I believe you may like the romance genre more than you think, Aaron. You seem to see the love story in all you read! 😂

Well written words, as usual. I always enjoy reading your compositions.

I am on record, and I stand by saying, I think the very best stories are love stories.

Terminator, Terminator 2, Gates of Fire, The Mummy, Cold Mountain, The Road, The Afghan Campaign, The Last of the Amazons, Lonesome Dove... The Exorcist!

They're all love stories.

I actually enlisted a kid whose mother was a very successful romance author. I think I edited this anecdote from the essay for length, but I needed her parental consent to enlist him because he was 17. When I went to her house, she had dozens of Fabbio-looking covers/books displayed around the living room and sitting room. Like, Ah-Bunch of long-haired muscle-bound cats holding these busty ladies on a mountain side, or in front of a castle, or on the bow of a ship. My first reaction was to find her a date.

I said something like, "Oh, you really like to read," and she replied something like, "I do like to read, but I love to write."

I was confused because it was a bigtime author's name on the cover and her name was different. She wrote all of them under a pseudonym.

Today, I can't remember either name unfortunately. I wouldn't tell if I did, but it'd be nice to look up her novels now that I write and buy a few, if only to show her some more appreciation for trusting me with her son.

I wish you could remember her pseudonym too! Regardless, you have inspired me to branch out in my reading choices. Thanks!

I love to hear that. Be sure to let me know if you check out one of my suggestions, or if you want to chat in more detail about one of them to decide. No spoilers!
